On the Concierge's Shortlist: How We Earn Hotel and Resort Referrals

A concierge's recommendation is borrowed trust. When they send a guest to us, they're putting their own reputation on the line, and we treat it that way.

Luxury car in the Arizona desert

When a guest at a resort in Scottsdale asks the concierge where to rent a Lamborghini for the weekend, the concierge has a decision to make. They can hand over a business card, or they can stake their own reputation on a recommendation. The best concierges choose carefully, because if the experience goes badly, the guest remembers who sent them.

I think about that every time a hotel, resort or villa manager refers someone to Royal Rentals. A referral is borrowed trust, and borrowed trust has to be returned with interest.

Concierges are hospitality professionals

A great concierge knows the city, the restaurants, the private experiences and the people who deliver them. They are judged on one thing: whether their guest had a wonderful stay. So when we work with concierges, we try to make them look good. That means fast answers, accurate availability and a delivery experience that matches the property they represent.

What makes a vendor easy to recommend

  • Response time. If a guest asks at the desk, the concierge needs an answer while the guest is still standing there, or close to it.
  • Honest availability. We'd rather say a car isn't available than overpromise and disappoint a guest.
  • Clear requirements. Screening, deposits and terms explained simply, so the concierge can set expectations correctly.
  • A polished handoff. The car arrives clean, on time and presented with the same care the property shows its guests.
  • Discretion. Many resort guests value privacy. We don't post, name-drop or share client details.

Matching the car to the property

A guest at a golf resort planning a quiet anniversary dinner may want a Bentley. A group celebrating in Old Town may want an Escalade so everyone rides together. A first-time exotic renter may be dreaming about a Lamborghini Urus. Concierges know their guests, and when they share a little context, we can recommend the right car for the moment instead of just the most expensive one.

Timing and logistics

Resort guests often run on tight, changing schedules: a late flight, a dinner reservation moved up, a tee time that runs long. We plan deliveries with buffer time and confirm details with the concierge or the guest directly, so the car is waiting when they are ready, not the other way around. Small logistics are where hospitality is won or lost.

Closing the loop

One habit I insist on is following up with the referring partner. A quick note letting the concierge know the car was delivered and returned smoothly tells them their guest was taken care of. If anything went wrong, they hear it from us first, along with how we fixed it. That kind of transparency is what turns a one-time referral into a lasting relationship.

Beyond Scottsdale

Royal Rentals runs its own locations in Scottsdale/Phoenix and Charlotte, where booking is online only. For guests heading to Miami, Las Vegas or Los Angeles, we coordinate through trusted partner operators. For lifestyle managers and concierge firms with clients in several cities, that means one point of contact and a consistent standard.

Why I value these partnerships

I learned hospitality by watching how the best people in the black card world take care of clients: quietly, precisely and without drama. Concierges live that standard every day. Earning a spot on their shortlist isn't about a commission or a brochure. It's about showing up the same way, every time, until recommending us feels automatic.

If you manage guests at a hotel, resort, villa or private club and want a luxury car partner you can trust with your reputation, I'd like to hear from you.
